Thrifty Thursday

Okay, so I haven't posted one of these for a few weeks. I've been busy!

Today's item is something I made with finds from around the house.

BS....I've been playing around with my own perpetual Liturgical Calendar, and am really happy with the results. I like the idea of keeping a journal, but have never been able to write for longer than a week. I read something several months ago about a
perpetual journal, and decided to try to make my own version. (I don't remember where I read about this, if I do I'll let you know!)

I downloaded some wonderful religious images, and printed them out on white cardstock - much sturdier than paper.

I pulled out my date stamper and index cards, and got to work. I cut all the index cards to fit in the basket, then stamped each one with the month and the day. I used my copper pen and wrote the month on the top of each image, in order to use the images as dividers. The basket is a leftover from a January DollarTree shopping visit, and the perfect size.

Every morning I pull out the card for the day, and on the first line I write the year. At the end of the day I jot down anything about the day I want to remember, and then I file it in the back.

I love having this perpetual, visual reminder of all the good things in my life!

  1. Very nice! So you keep going through it again, every year, right? That is going to be so interesting every day, after a few years, to read what you've written in previous years. Cool & creative & inspiring. Good for you. : ) XO

  3. thank you again for sharing your calendar with me. And i love how you are putting it to work for yourself and your family. I also love the little date stamp -- the date looks like something from the vintage days at the library when the lady stamped our books individually with those little date stampers. very cool. and I like how you;ve arranged all the cards in a basket on heavy card stock. now you can look back each year and see what happened the year before.

  4. I love this idea...I saw something like it in a magazine, but I like the fact that yours is a Liturgical perpetual calendar! I got all inspired and I started making all the cards, but then thought I should go through all our family calendars and mark them with big family events in the past.... Then I got discouraged and abandoned the project. =)
I should start again...and maybe just add significance from years before IF I remember. Capture the NOW.
    Thanks for sharing!

  7. I can never keep a journal either. I always want too and I start one up every once in a while but I never have the time to keep it up. It would be so great to remember what I was feeling and what happened. I think this is a good idea. I love the picture cards you used to mark the Months.

  8. Hi Paula, I'm guessing you've taken 40 days off of blogging for the Lenten Season since I haven't seen any new blogs. I too, have slowed down but not altogether. I did want to wish you an Easter filled with blessings!
