Thursday's Second Stop

We ended our time at the Capitol with a picture session on the steps.

Then we started our next tour with pictures on the steps while waiting for Grandma to join us.

This building is so rich with images and windows - breathtaking!
Her favorite...St. Therese...

Sacred Heart...

His favorite...Infant of Prague...

Original bell...

LEGO model of the Cathedral...

Group consensus was that the middle section was missing. No explanations around, other than a sign that said "Please Do Not Touch".

We finished up our day with a leisurely tour through the suburb I grew up in, and then a tour of crazymama's beautiful church.

We will go back to tour her church, because there was a wake in progress. I am not as much of a rebel as she is, and I refused to go into the church and walk around and look at icons up by the deceased body. She should have won the award!

We had a great day. I'm so glad our family has met her and her family!

MAJOR Field Trip Day!

Thursdays are turning into our field trip day. This is wonderful, because we've been enjoying the IRL company of a family we got to know through the power of blogging. We have so much fun together, get a little snarky (ok, I do - she's so much nicer than me!), and think of ways to drive Regina NUTS that she can't be with us.

Here are a few pictures of our first stop yesterday.

The LEGO Model was almost as cool as the real thing.

One heckuva crazy mama....bat-shit crazy, even! At least she was a contender!

I love taking pictures. I wish I were a better photographer...

A very nice man from the Senate Information Office gave us a private tour of the Senate floor. We explained to him that we had a special meeting in the Capitol that conflicted with a public guided tour, and he was very accomodating. Unfortunately, the pictures I took didn't turn out...

Oh, I'm sorry, what was that?

Our very special meeting?

Ah,

well,

we had to watch this....

and meet him....

Many, many heartfelt thanks go out to Senator Fobbe. She and her office invited us to watch the official Veterans bill signing, and she made sure we met Governor Pawlenty. She is a fervent supporter of homeschoolers, bowfishing, SOLDIERS, and farmers. Oh, and did I mention she is Catholic?

Win a Rosetta Stone Latin Program!

***Rosetta Stone is the fastest way to learn a language and has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while — and you can WIN the *all new* version 3 Rosetta Stone Homeschool LATIN program… FOR FREE! This is the first year you can get Latin in the brand new Version III update.

This is a $259 program (and believe me it’s worth every penny!)This is a computer based curriculum and Rosetta Stone will also include a headset with microphone, and a supplementary “Audio Companion” CD so you can practice lessons in the car, on the go, or where-ever! Students participate in life-like conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone incorporates listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing along with speaking and pronunciation lessons. For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program to allow parents to easily enroll up to ten students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, grade completed work (the program grades the work automatically as the students progress- I love that!), and you can view and print reports for transcripts. Homeschooling a lot of kids at your house? This program is designed to enroll and track up to ten students (five users on two computers) and will work for nearly all ages — from beginning readers up to college students.

To win this most excellent Latin program copy these paragraphs and post them in (or as) your next blog post, and/OR link to the contest from your facebook page and/OR email the information to your homeschool support group – Then go to the original page http://Jeneralities.com and leave a comment saying that you’ve posted about, or have linked to, the contest. Please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post.

And good luck!
