We are in real trouble

And your point is...?

You Are Not Messy

You're so clean, people have accused you of being a clean freak!

You like things tidy, organized, and smelling fresh.

Messes drive you crazy, especially when you didn't make them.

It's hard for you to live with a slob - or someone who leaves their dishes in the sink.

Pro-Lifer's -- it's time to step up to the plate!

NBC has refused to air (during the superbowl) this video from catholicvote.com

An NBC representative in Chicago told the group late yesterday that NBC and the NFL are not interested in advertisements involving "political advocacy or issues."

That’s not what they told PETA.

PETA is an advocacy group. NBC rejected PETA’s ad for another reason altogether.
Victoria Morgan, Vice President of Advertising Standards for Universal, said, "The PETA spot submitted to Advertising Standards depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards.”

Here's how to take action:

1. Boycott NBC

2. Boycott the Superbowl

3. Send your complaints about the rejection of the ad to Victoria Morgan, Vice President, Advertising Standards, NBC Universal, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 1825 E. New York, NY 10112. Call (212) 664-4267 or fax (212) 664-6366 or email victoria.morgan@nbc.com

Thursday is Science Day

Cornstarch + Water = Science.

Wonderful Illustrator

I discovered a book at the library yesterday, and have been unable to put it down.

The Farm Book, written and illustrated by Rien Poortvliet. His art is amazing!

I have requested some of his other books through our library - Noah's Ark, The Living Forest, and He Was One of Us.

If you can get these at your library, you should.

Truly breathtaking.

Purse/Tote Meme with picture

Yes, that's me.
I cannot take my own picture. Ugh.

Jamie so wonderfully tagged me for this meme. I hope you are all getting a good chuckle out of my purse.

Can you see it?

In my hand?

It's blue denim.

It currently holds:
  • one drivers license
  • 4 credit cards
  • 1 Sam's card
  • 1 library card
  • 1 HSLDA membership card
  • 4 medical/dental insurance cards
  • 1 auto insurance card
  • 1 hunting/fishing license
  • 1 child ID card (why only one?...)
  • 5 gift cards
  • 1 blackjack reference card (I don't know why)
  • 1 list of important numbers (I don't have a cell phone)
  • and one single dollar bill.

I haven't carried a purse in years. I didn't like always have to readjust it on my shoulder OR putting my head through the strap and emphasising my figure. Plus, I'd rather hold my kids hands than a purse handle.

This little wallet fits in the pocket of my jeans in the summer and my coat in the winter. I have my keys on a ring with a latch hook on them, and they get attached to the belt loop of my jeans.

A perfect hands-free solution.

Oh, the shirt? Sweatshirt. Cabella's. On sale. Like everything else I buy.

I tag Juli, Regina, Laura, Shelley, Laura, Theresa and Megan.

Whew!

It's like Hollywood around here!

I've received another award!

Yes, me.

Truthfully, I'm not big on awards. Jamie had an excellent post about awards not that long ago, and I did agree with her comments.

Then I got an award last week --- and I passed it on.

And Jamie called me on it.

And I have to say, I like getting awards.

I like knowing people are reading my blog.

I'm still not writing for anyone other than myself and my family, but I like knowing other people are reading...and enjoying...my little corner of the blog world. (and I mean little)

And I really like all the FRIENDS I have made ~and met~ through blogging.

So...I'm passing it on.

To Jaime, and Paula, and Melissa, and Theresa.

Enjoy!!!

Get LOST?

We do.

If you have the SciFi channel, the remaining episodes from last season (season 4) start in one hour.

A nice little review before the start of the new season...this Wednesday.

We are preparing the popcorn right now (it is National Popcorn Day, after all!)

Lovely Award

I just received this award from Juli.

If you haven't seen her blog, stop in and say hi!

I'm going to pass this on to Marti, Regina and Shelley - they all have lovely blogs!

The Interview MEME

My very dear and close friend just allowed herself to be interviewed, and I asked her to interview me.

Instructions:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me".
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So, here are the 5 questions with my answers...

1. Growing up did you and your sister have a good relationship? And do you now?

We were typical siblings growing up - some days we loved each other and some days we didn't. I'm older and I know I didn't spend much time with her when I was in high school. Now we have a very close relationship.

2. If the Catholic religion did not exist what religion would you be?

Wow. Good question. I've never thought about it. I would have to go with Jewish. That was the prevailing God-based religion until Catholicism started!

3. How has marriage changed you?

Longer hair, wider body....oh, not that kind of change. Hmm, I don't think we've been married long enough for it to have changed me. I'm sure my husband has a different opinion.

4. What is your favorite book (not including the bible). And why?

I don't really have a favorite book. I have read so many and for the most part have loved them. I'm partial to whatever I'm reading at the moment, so here's my current reading list:

Me, Stories of My Life by Katharine Hepburn

Light from the East, Miracles of Our Lady of Soufanieh by Fr. Robert J. Fox

Christ in the Psalms by Patrick Henry Reardon

Dark Night of the Soul by St. John of the Cross

Dressing with Dignity by Colleen Hammond

The Gift of Faith by Father Tadeusz Dajczer

Catechism of the Catholic Church

5. Knowing you love music. What is the best concert you have ever attended. Tell about it.

Another wow. The first concert I ever attended was Boston. Sammy Hagar's band Montrose opened for them. Completely eye-opening.

I was at Rossington-Collins concert after high school, and ended up on stage with the band, so that was cool.

I've seen Def Leppard more times than I can count, so probably any of their concerts.

But then Rockin' the River was fun, and Iowa Jam, and all the concerts at Trout Air.....

Leave me a comment if you want me to interview you. And remember, I get to pick the questions!

4H Friday

We've been members of our homeschool co-op 4H group for 3 years.

It's a great group and the kids enjoy the meetings and field trips, but I've never pushed them to do the project workbooks, simply because they are not home the week of the County Fair. (If you're not involved in 4H, the County Fair is a Big Deal).

I haven't bothered to look at the calendar to check if they will be home this year, but I have an abundance of 4H project workbooks, so they each picked one today and started working. The plan is to have them work on them anytime during the week, and I'll check it on Fridays.

Princess is going to focus on dogs, using "her" Golden Retriever. (If you follow Margaret's blog, our dogs are the proud parents of Ellie.)

Here are the obligatory pictures for the beginning of the project workbook.

The dog is NOT growling.

She does this when we pull out the camera.

I'm not joking.

St. George picked pre-flight, so he is learning all about rockets and planes and spaces.

I'd love to get in touch with my old friend Heidi so he could ask her questions!

Welcome to Minnesota!

(warning - intentional sarcasm ahead)

I live in the best. state. ever.

We have so many honest and hard-working politicians.

No one here would sink so low as to commit voter fraud.

You should move here. Ignore the cold and the snow. Think how lucky you are to have so many people looking out for you.

For Regina

...only because she has been bugging me about writing a new post.

Frankly, I have nothing to write about.

We took a two week break from lessons over Christmas, and went ice-fishing. We did not catch any ice, we caught fish. 1 sauger, 2 walleyes, and 1 eelpout -- the slimiest fish ever. Ish. We came home early because of the lack of fish and the abundance of diarrhea. I'm not going to tell you who had the diarrhea, but it is not possible to deal with when you are living in an 8x18 fishhouse without a separate bathroom. We were on Lake of the Woods if you need some geography material for your kiddies.

I finally taught myself to knit. I'm no Regina, but I'm getting there. I made a neck warmer and slippers for the kids. The slipper pattern is EASY, but after two wearings there are holes in the bottoms. I may need to add leather.

Oh, and visit Regina. She is the blogger who created the WONDERFUL. button over on my sidebar. You can get it, too.

And feel free to follow my blog, because I am witty and a prolific writer.
